About the name...

During my time in Uganda the Lord really gripped my heart for the passion and vision that Geoffrey has for the orphans of his district, Nebbi. I have always had a heart for Africa and thought one day I would end up there running an orphanage. This trip definitely solidified that desire and brought the time frame for that dream a lot closer to now than I ever imagined.

As I got to hear Geoffrey share his plan I began to see where I could fit into that plan both down the road, living in Nebbi and now even while I am back in Pineville, LA working as a housing director. Right now the greatest thing I can do is be an advocate for these fatherless and motherless children. I believe with all my heart that if I can share their stories and put a name with a face that the believers in my community will come out of the woodwork to support them.

For just $250.00 a year...$20.00 a month...you can sponsor a child and make sure they have food to eat, a bed to sleep on, clothes to wear and that they get a quality education. Hard to believe that for just $20 you can make that possible? Here in the states $20 won't even fill up my tank with gas.

I am currently editing pictures to post of the first 50 orphans that we hope to get sponsors for. Will you give? Will you pray for these kids and the families that will take them in? Will you go with me to Nebbi next summer and meet them in person?

Now for the name...I don't know what Geoffrey plans to name the school and the orphanage but as I was searching for a name for the blog I just kept hearing a Shane & Shane song resound in my head and heart. One of the lyrics of that song says "you lead me from valleys low...to acres of hope." I trust that the Lord has acres of hope for these sweet children...both now on earth and when they are taken to be with Jesus for eternity.

I will be posting details soon about how you can make your donations online and have then sent directly to Geoffrey in Nebbi so that he can provide for the child you choose to sponsor. I will be working with Geoffrey as well to get updates of the kids and new pictures as time goes by. I will even make arrangements for you to be able to write to the child you are sponsoring and make sure they receive your letters. Thank you in advance for your willingness to take one of these sweet children into your family from a distance.
